Suzi Quatro is a living rock legend. The singer, bassist, actress, author, and radio host was born in Detroit in 1950 and began her career early in her family's band, "The Art Quatro Trio." At 14, she played with her sister Patti in the band The Pleasure Seekers, and with her distinctive blend of leather, bass, and unbridled energy, she became one of the first women not just to participate in rock music, but to shape it. In 1973, she scored a worldwide No. 1 hit with "Can the Can."  This was followed by other classics such as "48 Crash," "Devil Gate Drive," and the US duet "Stumblin' In." 

To date, she has sold over 55 million records. In addition to her music, Quatro has also been a successful actress, appearing in the cult series "Happy Days" and shining in London's West End in "Annie Get Your Gun." Since 1999, she has hosted her own radio programs on BBC Radio 2 and has received numerous awards. Nominated for the Sony Radio Award. Her versatility is also evident in theater projects, book publications, the documentary Suzi Q (2019), and collaborations with artists such as KT Tunstall. New studio album "Freedom" was released in 2026.

It has been 35 years since one of Australia’s most revered rock bands, Baby Animals, burst onto the scene with the release of their 8x Platinum, ARIA Award winning, self-titled debut album, featuring iconic hits ‘Rush You’, ‘Early Warning’, ‘Painless’ and ‘One Word’.   The band was touring with Van Halen in the US when they heard the album had topped the charts, ‘Baby Animals’ spending six weeks at number one in Australia and keeping Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ out of top spot. The album went eight times platinum and won three ARIA Awards – Best Album, Best Debut Album and Best Debut Single. It was also declared one of the Top 25 albums of 1992 in UK rock bible Kerrang!, and Baby Animals performed ‘Painless’ on Late Night With David Letterman.  They later appeared in The 100 Best Australian Albums, and Suze DeMarchi was also featured in the book Rock Chicks, The Hottest Female Rockers from the 1960s to Now.

Rose Tattoo, the true rock and roll outlaws and first and last gang in town rumbled into existence in late 1976 with a New Year’s Eve debut at Sydney’s legendary Bondi Lifesaver.

The band was the vision of Pete Wells, former bassist with Sydney heavy metal kids, Buffalo, his master plan embellished by ex-Band of Light bassist, Ian Rilen.  With Wells on slide guitar and Rilen on bass, former Buster Brown singer, Angry Anderson was recruited along with rhythm guitarist Mick Cocks and drummer Dallas “Digger” Royal and they set about destroying eardrums and venues across Australia.

With the band’s enormous power came a level of internal combustion and in August 1977, Rilen left on the eve of the release of the band’s debut single for Alberts, Bad Boy For Love to form the soon to be equally infamous X Geordie Leach who had played with Angry in Buster Brown stepped in to replace Rilen and the band’s classic self-titled debut album produced by Vanda and Young was released in late 1978 with the killer singles, Bad Boy for love, Rock n’ Roll Outlaw and One of the Boys.

Formed in New Zealand, adopted by Australian fans, venues and airwaves. Original member Todd Hunter (bass) reformed Dragon in 2006 with a line-up of Mark Williams (vocals, guitar), Bruce Reid (guitar), and Pete Drummond (drums).

Any mention of Australian pub rock is incomplete without a nod to Choirboys—true stalwarts of Australia’s gritty rock scene and champions of the country’s working-class musical heart. From their birth on the sun-drenched Northern Beaches of Sydney in 1978 to touring nationally over 40 years later, Choirboys have become more than a band. They’re a rite of passage for generations of Aussie rock fans.

Led by frontman Mark Gable, alongside original members Lindsay Tebbutt (drums) and Ian Hulme (bass), and later joined by Brett Williams (guitar), Choirboys cut their teeth in a time when live music poured out of pubs like beer from a tap. It was loud, it was raw, it was unfiltered—and Choirboys were right in the thick of it.

Their 1987 anthem “Run to Paradise” isn’t just a hit—it’s a national treasure. A song that perfectly captures the sound and spirit of Australia in the 80s, it catapulted the band to stardom. It hit the Top 10 on the Australian charts, and even cracked the U.S. Billboard charts—an achievement few Aussie rock acts can claim.

The hits didn’t stop there. Songs like “Boys Will Be Boys”, “Never Gonna Die”, and “Struggle Town” became fixtures on pub jukeboxes and festival stages alike. Backed by three Top 30 albums and a recording deal with legendary label Albert Productions (home to AC/DC, The Angels, and Rose Tattoo), Choirboys were embedded in the very DNA of Australian rock.
